1. Start the browser.
Netscape 8.x, Firefox 1.x, 2.x: Select Tools, then Options. The Options window appears. Select the Content tab. In the Fonts & Colors section, click Advanced. The Fonts window appears.
Netscape 7.x: Select Edit, then Preferences. The Preferences window appears. Open Appearance, then select Fonts. The Fonts window appears.

2. In the Fonts for drop-down box scroll until you find Chinese Simplified and/or Chinese Tranditional. When you find the one you wish to set the fonts on, click on it to highlight it.
Note: If you don't see the particular language in the Language script drop-down box then you don't have that language installed on your computer. Refer to Inputting Chinese Characters in Documents, E-Mails, and Websites on Reading and Writing Chinese Characters with Your Computer.
3. In the Proportional, Serif, Sans-serif, and Monospace drop-down boxes make your choices for fonts. You can set the fonts for multiple language scripts by repeating steps 2 and 3. When finished setting the fonts for your chosen language(s) click OK to close the Fonts window. Click OK to close the Options window.
4. Select View, then Character Encoding, then Auto-Detect.

5. Make sure that Universal in the Auto-Detect pop-up window is selected as the default method (has a small black dot next to it). If not then click on Universal and it will be selected as the default method (the small black dot should be next to it).
