1. Have your Windows XP installation disk ready.
2. Open Start then open Control Panel.

3. The Control Panel appears. From the Control Panel open Regional and Language Options.

4. The Regional and Language Options window appears. Select the Languages tab.
Note: If the checkbox Install files for East Asian languages was already checked when you opened the Languages tab then the files are already installed and you can skip down to Configuring the Input Method Editors (IMEs) in Windows XP-step 3 to check which languages are already configured or choose additional ones to configure.

5. Put a check in the checkbox Install files for East Asian languages and click Apply. The Install Supplemental Language Support window appears.
6. Click OK to close the Install Supplemental Language Support window. Click OK on the Languages tab.
7. You should get a message requesting that you insert your Windows XP installation disk. Insert the disk into the CD-ROM player on your computer and click OK. Windows XP should install the necessary language files from the installation disk.
8. When finished you should be prompted by Windows XP asking you if you would like to restart your computer. Click Yes.
9. After restart, the necessary language files will be available on your computer and you can proceed to configure them as outlined in Configuring the Input Method Editors (IMEs) in Windows XP.
