Note: If you do have Office XP installed on your computer go to Installing and Configuring Language Files for the Input Method Editors (IMEs) in Windows 95, 98, ME, NT with Office XP.
1. Go to Global IME at the Microsoft website. On the web page, open up the drop down box under Choose a language option and choose the language you wish to download. It is best to choose the file that includes the Language Pack, ex. (Chinese (Simplified) - with Language Pack) or (Chinese (Traditional) - with Language Pack). Click Go.

2. The File Download - Security Warning window appears. The file name will appear next to Name, for Chinese (Simplified) - with Language Pack the file name is scmondo.exe. The Language Pack is needed for Internet Explorer to display Chinese characters on the Web. You can choose to either Run this file now (steps 3.a, 3.a.i, 4, 5) or Save to install later (steps 3.b, 3.b.i, 3.b.ii, 3.b.iii, 4, 5).
Note: Download boxes have different appearances depending upon the make and version number of your Web browser. Internet Explorer 5.0 file download boxes will appear differently than Internet Explorer 7.0 for example. And Internet Explorer download boxes will appear differently than Netscape or Firefox download boxes. Also Netscape and Firefox download boxes may have the option to Save only, but not to Run.
3.a. If you want to run the file now click Run. The Gobal IME will begin to download itself temporarily to your computer.

3.a.i. When finished downloading, the Internet Explorer-Security Warning window appears. Click Run. The Global IME will be installed and configured. Skip down to step 4.

3.b. If you want to save the file to your computer and run it at anytime later click Save.

3.b. i. The Save As window appears. Choose a location to save the file. Note the File name and location where you saved it so you can find it later. Click Save.

3.b.ii. After the file has finished downloading the Download complete window appears. If you want to run the file now click Run. If you wish to run it later click Close and proceed to step 3.b.iii at a later time.
3.b.iii. Open Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then open Windows Explorer. Find the folder where you saved the file. Double click on the file name. The Global IME will be installed automaticaly.

4. After the Global IME has finished installing and configuring itself you will be prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.
5. After the computer has restarted you will see the Global IME icon in the taskbar.
