Configuring Chinese in the Mac OSX Operating System

1. Update the operating system with the most recent updates. Connect to the Internet. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.

2. The System Preferences window opens. Click Software Update.

3. The Software Update window appears Click Check Now. Older versions of Mac OSX maybe have Update Now instead of Check Now.

4. The Software Update window will change to show all the updates that are available for the computer. All updates will have a checkbox that is already checked. Uncheck any checkbox next to any item in the update list that you do not wish to update. Click Install.

5. The updates are installed. The computer may automatically check for updates again because some updates need to be done first before others can be installed. When the computer is finished downloading all updates, you may, or may not, be required to reboot the computer.

6. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.

7. The System Preferences window appears. Click International.

8. The International Control Panel appears. Click Input Menu. Some versions may have Keyboard Menu instead of Input Menu.

9. Scroll down the list of languages and put a check in the checkbox next to the language you wish to install.

10. A small American flag will appear in the upper right-hand corner of the computer screen.. When this flag is clicked a drop-down box will open showing the languages installed on the system.
